Kawasaki-Machi, Miyagi Prefecture

As most of you already know, I have accepted a position to work in Kawasaki-Machi.

Kawasaki-Machi has a population of 10,512 and a density of 38.82 people per km. Compare this to Japan's average population density of 336. Being a small town, this is the only piece of information I have found about Kawasaki-Machi so far. I believe there are some famous Hot Springs nearby, a mountain range, a dam, and a park:

There is more information about the nearby city, Sendai.

Sendai is the capital of Miyagi Prefecture and is the largest city in northern Japan. It was founded in 1600 and is nicknamed the City of Trees. Though having a growing tech industry and being famous for its education, Sendai's economy is underwhelming as very few major companies are headquartered here. Instead, the city thrives on retail and service. And before I bore you with too many macro-details, I will tell you that Sendai is famous for kiyashi chukka(cold Chinese noodles), robatayaki( Japanese-style barbeque), and having introduced gyutan (or cow tongue) into Japan from France.

While I'm not particularly excited about the cow tongue, I am glad to have learned a few things about my future home and--courtesy of Wikipedia primarily-- I have shared these with you. I am finishing up my preparations and am generally enjoying my last week of the summer with my family in Columbus. I believe it may be a while before I can put together a post, but I will be taking many photos (those displayed here are not my own) in preparation of filling you in. Wish me luck!
